Seven phase, extensive, regeneration masterplan for a key site in the centre of Coventry. The scheme, on the former Design and Technical College site, retains the existing Art Deco locally listed building converting it into restaurants and café bars at ground floor level, with offices and hotel above.
The existing theatre is to be extended and a new public piazza created to the rear to provide external performance space. The development also includes retail units, offices, multi-storey car parks and 554 apartments with a new private landscaped courtyard. Phase 1 and 2 have currently been completed which include a 84,000 sq ft BREEAM ‘excellent’ rated new office building for a government department, a multi storey car park and retail units together with a block of apartments.
The scheme was designed in close collaboration with the design team, conservation officers, planners, client and the local community.
