Banbury Cattle Market
Banbury
Barratt Homes, Kings Oak
The derelict 17 acres site of the former Banbury Cattle Market has been redeveloped to provide residential accommodation comprising 86 two, three and four bedroom townhouses and 222 one and two bedroom apartments. The development is between 2 and 4 storeys high, with changing rooflines and a variation of exterior features such as projecting bays, balconies and canopied entrances. Walled courtyards provide landscaped amenity and play spaces as well as residents parking.
A legible street pattern has been created by outward facing perimeter blocks consisting of strategically located apartment buildings linked by town houses. The streets are designed to achieve a maximum speed limit of 20mph with Home Zone principles adopted.
Landscaped urban squares have been integrated into the design linked by pedestrian and cycle paths. The scheme has been designed to create a locally distinctive development with a strong urban form.
