Rushey Mead School

BBLB are working with Miller Construction, Leicester City Council and representatives from Rushey Mead School on a BSF Wave Two project which comprises remodelling and major rebuild of the school campus to create a school for the future.
Rushey Mead School is a 1,500 pupil secondary school that specialises in Sports, Maths and Science and is located to the north of the City Centre. The current school is a disjointed collection of buildings of various ages and states of repair.
Our design provides a campus solution that is linked by a series of covered spaces that both connect the blocks and create external teaching areas. By taking an innovative approach the BBLB team has delivered added value to this project enabling the school to have a much improved facility comprising a higher percentage of new build than initially anticipated.
The design addresses the main road giving the school a new and open identity. Works include demolishing the existing teaching block and gym, major and minor refurbishment of retained buildings, a new build sports block and teaching blocks and a replanned school campus with associated external works.
